Red Hat Presentation at MSU-Bozeman

Feb 11 2010 - 10:00am
Feb 11 2010 - 12:00pm

Jared Bogert and Jon Tomaszewski from Red Hat will be giving a presentation at Montana State University Bozeman. Off campus folks are welcome to attend although you may have to pay for parking. Location: Strand Union Building (SUB), room 233

The topics include:

  • Some background on KVM - the native hypervisor in the Linux kernel
  • An overview of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) including RHEV for Servers and RHEV for Desktops
  • A live demo of RHEV
  • A feature and price comparison with their competition
  • Some background information on open source
  • A heads up on the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Here's an additional blurb they sent:

It's no secret that virtualization provides many benefits and although many organizations realize the advantages, virtualization currently represents only about 20 percent of enterprise workloads. Windows servers may be part of your physical server landscape, but may not be the best choice for your core virtualization platform. The two hour presentation and demonstration will focus on the overall factors organizations should consider when starting or expanding their virtualization initiatives, including hypervisor selection, management tools, expansion planning and specifically review the new developments from open source market leader Red Hat -- representing Red Hat will be Jon Tomaszewski, Public Sector Solution Architect and Jared Bogert, Public Sector Manager.

I believe they will have some Red Hat swag to give away too. They have given me the ok to video the presentation so I hope to have it online shortly after.
