OS Virtualization vs. Hardware Virtualization
I'm all done with making the slides for my presentation on OS Virtualization vs. Hardware Virtualization for the Linuxfest Northwest 2008 conference.
Check out photos in the photo gallery. Thanks goes to Warren for letting me borrow his camera. All photos are licensed under a Creative Commons license so do with them what you will.
Update: Ok, here's the video of my presentation.
OpenVZ on Ubuntu Hardy
You are correct, the openvz kernel is available in hardy universe. Instructions are available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenVZ
A mistake near the end of the video
After reviewing the video I noticed a mistake I made regarding offline migration. I meant to say that the downtime of an offline migration is whatever time it takes to stop the machine on the source host node and start it back up again on the destination node... but I mistakenly referred to a checkpoint and restoring from a checkpoint... which is online migration. In any event, the downtimes I mentioned are consistent with what I meant to say. :)
