Helena Linux Class

I went to sign up for the Linux class at the Helena Adult Learning Center. There was only one other person signed up with 6 minimum required. Looks like it's going to get canceled. I am very disappointed!

Helena Class

Hey, sorry everyone, I was out of town last week. Before I left I was told we had 8 people registered, but on my return only one had registered, so it was canceled.

The fee associated with the course covers the cost of facilities (access to computers + projector).

If anyone has an alternate site / access to computers that would be less costly or if there is an interest in an alternate format, both would be fine with me.

The Silver lining is that I will turn my attention to the Helena LUG (Next meeting Thursday Night, March 6th, 7-9, at the Helena Public Library). I would be more then happy to shift the content of the course to the Helena LUG meetings.

If it's not broken tweak it ... but remember if you break it you get to keep both pieces ;)

re: Helena Linux Class

Hello J,

If the class were closer I would go, just to help you fill up the room! :) I still consider myself a new Linux user (less than 6 months.) I seam to find my way around most operating systems alright but I'm always looking to learn more. I think it was Scott, not sure anymore, someone here mentioned "Linux Reality Podcast," by: Chess Griffin. He has about 94 episodes to date, all very informative. He assumes that you know nothing about Linux in episode one, the rest chronologically build upon previous episodes. I would recommend Chess's Podcast to anyone who is interested in Linux!

Podcast

I've heard about them, and got them bookmarked, just haven't had time to go thru them yet. Thanks.

Free class in Bozeman?

I've taught a few "Introduction to Linux" classes myself although it has been a few years... and would be happy to put on a free class here in Bozeman if you can find at least 5 people who are interested. I have a location and lab that I could use.

Bozeman Class

I'm going to call today, just to make sure. If you set up a class in Bozeman, I'd try to make it, but it would have to be on a weekend, to far for these old bones to commute after work. Thx for the offer, and keep me posted if it takes off!

The Helena Class was free too... sorta

The instructor for the Helena class was basically doing it for free too... but his facilities were not free so they had to charge something... and to meet minimal expenses, set a minimum class size.

The only time I would be able to do it too would be on a weekend. Typically my previous classes have been two 8-hour sessions on two Saturdays... but I can shorten it to one 8-hour session if need be.
